Business verification proves your company is real. It is connected to your Meta Business portfolio and affects the messaging limits and features available on your WhatsApp account.
What you need before you start
- A Meta Business portfolio you control (the business, not a personal profile, should own it).
- The legal business name exactly as on your documents.
- A business website on your own domain that shows the same business name.
- A phone number that can receive an SMS or call to register with WhatsApp, and that is not already on the regular WhatsApp app.
Documents usually accepted
| Purpose | Typical examples |
|---|---|
| Legal name | Trade licence, certificate of incorporation |
| Address or phone | Utility bill, bank statement in the business name |
| Domain ownership | Email at your domain or DNS record |
Exact requirements depend on country, and Meta decides what it accepts.
Common causes of delay
- The name on the licence differs from the name in the portfolio or on the website.
- The website is missing, under construction or on a free subdomain.
- The documents are blurry, expired or cropped.
- The number is already registered to the consumer WhatsApp app.
How we help
Our onboarding team prepares the checklist, reviews your documents before submission and tracks the status. Setup is a one-time $199 charge; see WhatsApp pricing and the WhatsApp Business API page.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need business verification to start?
You can often start in a limited way, but verification is generally needed to raise messaging limits and unlock more features.
Can I use my personal WhatsApp number?
A number that is active on the regular WhatsApp or WhatsApp Business app must be removed from it before it can be used with the API.
